About CalcSolarPH

Helping Filipino homes plan solar without the sales pitch

CalcSolarPH is a free calculator and research library built for Philippine electricity bills, weather, and utilities: Meralco, VECO, DLPC, and beyond. Here's who works on it, how we research, and how to reach us.

Our Story

Why we built this

Most "solar calculators" available to Filipino homeowners are lead-generation forms in disguise: enter your bill, get a phone call. We wanted something you could actually use on your own: enter your Meralco (or VECO, or DLPC) bill and immediately see a realistic system size, cost range, and payback estimate, with the full reasoning shown, not hidden behind a sales call.

That grew into a research library covering the questions that come up once someone is actually serious about solar in the Philippines: net metering paperwork, typhoon-proofing, LiFePO4 vs. lead-acid, and the DIY safety details that most guides skip. We also maintain a catalog of solar equipment so you can compare real options once you know what you need.

How We Research

Where the numbers come from

We'd rather show our work than ask you to trust a black box.

Utility-published rates

Calculator assumptions (₱/kWh, net metering export credit, peak sun hours by region) are cross-checked against Meralco, ERC, and DOE published figures, and re-checked whenever rates change.

Estimates, labeled as estimates

Every planning figure on this site is marked as an estimate, not a quotation. Safety-critical guides (wiring, batteries, backfeed) are written to point you to a licensed electrician for anything involving live current. We don't pretend a webpage replaces one.

Editorial independence

Some product links are affiliate links; full details in our Affiliate Disclosure. Compensation never determines what the calculator recommends or what a guide says.

Our Team

Who works on CalcSolarPH

We're a small, hands-on team, organized by function so every guide goes through research, drafting, and technical review as a team effort, not published by one person working alone.

Research & Content Team

Drafts and maintains the calculator logic and guide content, sourced against utility and regulator publications.

Technical Review Team

Reviews safety-critical guides (wiring, battery handling, backfeed protection) for technical accuracy before publishing.

Product & Engineering

Builds and maintains the calculator, product catalog, and the rest of the site itself.

Common questions

A small, independent team. See Our Team above. We're not affiliated with Meralco, VECO, DLPC, or any single equipment manufacturer.
It's a planning estimate based on your bill, published utility rates, and regional peak sun hours, good for sizing a conversation with an installer, not a substitute for an on-site survey. See our ROI & payback guide for the full methodology.
No. We're a research and comparison site, not a retailer or installer.
We shortlist based on published specs, brand track record, and warranty terms, then update listings as prices and availability change.
